East London Design Show
On Thursday I took a trip down to Shorditch for the preview night for the ELDS, and despite the snow and transport delays the journey wasn’t too bad. The show itself was massive and pretty hectic, covering three floors with many exhibitors selling things from hats and scarves to furnature and houshold items. It was really great to talk to some of the designer makers especially CUSTHOM (http://www.custhom.co.uk/) who I met at the “Handmade in Britian” show in Chealsea earlier this year. The couple are really freindly and have some amazing designs, in particular thier THERMOCROMIC WALLPAPER which changes colours in heat or light.
I liked many things on sale, another Seller being NOODOLL (http://www.noodoll.com/) who make quirky Japanese things like bags, toys books and other nicknaks. (I spent quite a bit on this stall!) A foldaway bag i especially liked…
I also got quite a few freebies…
I bought a few things too….
I found this epic mug by designer http://www.peteribruegger.com/ and I thought they were so cute I just ..HAD to get one you understand!
Not forgetting the BA 3-D Design stand (Havering college) MAGNITUDE (Design with Attitude). ( http://www.havering-college.ac.uk/college-calendar-dates/college-news/news.aspx?p=109643 ) I particulary liked a certian MR LEMON’S work…haha..his was good but jokes aside they had all some interesting and well made work up for grabs…
Overall it was a good night out, with a few glasses of wine and some good shopping. Maybe I’ll get to exhibit there in a few years if I’m lucky!
